During spring break, my family and I went to Las Vegas for three days. We left home around 5:00 and it took us six hours to get to our Airbnb, when we got to the house we explored it and chose our rooms, the Airbnb was really cool and it even had a game room. Then around 11:00 we went to go walk on The Las Vegas Strip for about four hours, we went to a few casinos and looked around at statues and went to many places. The next day we had to get ready for a quinceañera, when we were ready we went first to the mass part of the quinceañera for an hour, then after we went to The Neon Museum for a bit and after I went to a store because I had brought high heels and my feet started to hurt so I got new shoes to wear. We had trouble finding the place where the quinceañera was but we ended up finding it. At the party there were so many people there and the music was really loud but everyone was having a good time, at some point I went to hang out with my cousin Nareya so the party was even more fun. The food there wasnt bad but it wasn’t amazing only the snacks there was good. After the party the minuet I got home I fell asleep but not before eating McDonalds. On the last day we all packed our things and left the Airbnb and went to the casino called Circus Circus and then after we went to go eat mexican food and it was so good and that was the first time I ate crab legs, then we went to the M&M store and to the Coca Cola store and then we went home which took six hours and got home at 12:00 in the morning but the whole trip was worth going to bed late.
Rad Reading—March
For this month I read the book Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry. It tells the story of Kira, an orphan with a twisted leg, lives in a world where weak people are put aside, she worries about her future until the all powerful Council of Guardians help Kira, she is considered a skillful weaver and is given a task that no other person can do. While her skills keep her living and brings many privileges, Kira realizes she is surrounded by secrets and mysteries. No one can know of her plans to uncover the truth about the world she lives in.
I recommend this novel because its a really great story because Kira faces many challenges and overcomes them demonstrating that you can find hope even in the darkest of moments. I also recommend this novel because its a really has a lot of exciting moments in it.
My favorite character in the was Matt which is Kira’s only friend, because he was always so happy and silly and is a really great friend to Kira. One of his character traits would be courageous because at some point during the story he joins a bunch of dangerous men that where handing out weapons to each other for a hunt, a quote to show this would be “Kira saw a small figure dart among the men and grab a spear. No one else seemed to notice. They were all absorbed with themselves, shoving and pushing. She saw that one man was already bloodied from a spear point.”
My favorite quote in the novel was “Take your pride in your pain. You are stronger than those who have none”. Kira’s mother had always said this to her because of Kira’s twisted leg and the meaning of the quote is that living with pain makes you stronger.
Dinner Guests
There are so many people I would want to invite to dinner, but these are my top three. The first person I would invite to dinner would be Christina because she is a really good friend and I would like for her to be one of my top three. The second person I would invite would be my best friend Tina because she is really nice and shares her food to a lot of people so it would be nice to have her at dinner. The third and final person I would invite would be my other friend Gabby because she is a kind person and she would be the perfect choice for a friend to invite. These are the people I would invite.
My Dream Job
If I could have any job in the world, it would be to become a marine biologist. The first reason to why I want to be a marine biologist is because I really like marine animals and it would be interesting to be able to study them. My second reason would be that I would be able to travel places to study and I really like traveling places. My third and final reason would be because it would be really cool if I would be able to discover a new specie!
Being Invisible
The possibilities are endless when you are invisible for twenty-four hours! If I were invisible, I would take all the chips from the pantry whenever I want a snack without being caught. I also would go to sleep whenever and wherever I want because nobody will see me do it and they wont ask me to wake up or go somewhere else. I would do these things because it would be fun to do things without being caught doing it.
Rad Reading—February

For this month, I read the book Honeybees and Frenemies by Kristi Weintge. Its the summer before eighth grade and Florence (Flor) Valandingham who is the main character, is stuck at home helping her parents at their family’s mattress store without her best friend who’s at band camp, but then she is asked to compete in the local honey pageant which means she has to practice the recorder and volunteering at Mr Henry’s house who is a bee watcher with her old best friend Candice Holloway. There is a possibility that she might be moving to another state but with how much her parents fight all the time, her dad might not go with them.
I recommend this book because because the story is about friendship, sisterhood and change, and the story is sometimes relatable and funny. I really enjoyed this book because liked how Candice changed her attitude with Flor and was a bit nicer to her than she was in 3rd grade.
My favorite character in the story was Candice because I liked how she was a dynamic character and how she was a lot nicer now to Flor than a few years ago when she did something because she was envious and now they are trying to work together.
My favorite quote from the story was “ I think if an apple hit me on the head right then, not even the laws of gravity could bring me down.” I like this quote because Flor is saying that nothing can stop her from doing what she wants to do in life.
Abandoned Island
Imagine being stuck on an abandoned island. That is my life. I ended up here because of a plane crash. The pilot fell asleep and we lost control, and now I am stuck here. Theres nothing much here theres only the ocean, sand, and trees and a few birds. The only thing I do here is catch fish in the water with a sharp stick then later make a fire with rocks, and with some other sticks to cook it, and I walk around the island or just sleep under trees or get coconuts in trees which I don’t like because I hate coconuts. I think I have been in this island for a week. Sure I do take baths when I first got here I found a bar of soap in my pocket and since then I have been using that bar. I am so grateful that I have a really fluffy sweater on because it gets really cold at night. This is basically my life here on this abandoned island.
Getting Hurt Playing Volleyball
One time when I was in first grade, my best friend and I were walking around the playground very bored during recess. I saw a bunch of kids a year older than us playing volleyball. I told my friend we should go play volleyball with them and she agreed. We then went over to ask if we could play, and they said okay. We got into position. The thing is, at the time I had absolutely no idea how to play volleyball, but I winged it. At some point during the game, the ball was headed towards me, and I put both my hands up. I don’t know why I did that, because I obviously didn’t know how to play volleyball. The ball hit my left hand hard and bent my pinky finger backwards. It hurt so bad that I started crying and could not stop. My best friend had to take me to the nurse’s office to get it checked out. I don’t remember exactly what happened in the office, but I do remember telling my best friend “I never want to play volleyball again!”. Little did I know that five years later volleyball would be my favorite sport.
Rad Reading—January

For this month I read the book Same Kind of Different as Me by Ron Hall and Denver Moore. I did not end up finishing the book, I am on page 153. It tells the true story of Denver, a modern-day slave and Ron, an international art dealer and the doubtful woman who betrothed them together. It starts off with them telling about their lives as kids then as they get older, their lives start intersecting with each other and soon become friends.
I recommend this book for the reason that the story is mostly stating that being a different race is okay and you shouldn’t stereotype people. I really enjoyed the fact that there was two different people telling their point of views in one book and how they came to get to know each other.
My favorite character in the story was Denver Moore, for the reason that he wasn’t trusting anybody, not even Ron and his wife Deborah who gave food to the homeless like him, but he then came to realize that Ron and Debbie cared about him and wanted a friendly relationship with him and he opened up a bit and became a little more social and faithful after he made the realization that people cared about him. He is my favorite also because adding on to what I stated, he was a dynamic person.
My favorite quote was “But if you is looking for a real friend, then i’ll be one. Forever.” This was my favorite quote because Denver was explaining to Ron that white people go through all the trouble in catching a fish then releasing it, so he said that if Ron was going to do that to his friendship with him, then he’s got no desire to becomes friends with him, but then he said that he would be his forever and real friend and I thought that was pretty nice of him to want to be a real friend with a long lasting relationship with Ron.
Dumbledore Quote!
Dumbledore from Harry Potter said the following, “Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, when one only remembers to turn on the light.”The meaning of this quote is you can be happy even if you’re feeling sad or something gloomy is happening, you can still be a happy person no matter what unless you remember what true happiness is. I relate to this quote for the reason that I have been through some rough times but then I realized that I could still be happy no matter what happens in life.
